Trainee Producer Placement Opportunity
Ffilm Cymru are inviting applications for a paid placement working as a trainee producer during the release of the feature documentary Still Pushing Pineapples (Labour of Love Films/ One Wave Film).
Candidates should be based or born in Wales.
The trainee producer will be based from home with potential travel expected around South Wales. The successful candidate will work with the Producers and production team for a total of 10 days. The film has been selected to open Sheffield DocFest in June, and the candidate would ideally be able to work 2-3 days during the lead up to the festival in preparation for the first screening.
The rest of the placement would take place in autumn around the film’s theatrical release and would involve work connected to building audiences, grassroots campaigns, and distribution of the film. The schedule of days per week/non-consecutive days is flexible and can be discussed at interview stage.
Still Pushing Pineapples
A melancholic yet heartfelt story of the former singer of pop band Black Lace and his journey on the road with his aging mother and partner, as he aims for a comeback.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the producers in all aspects of their work
- Supporting producers with lead up to the Sheffield DocFest – support with guest list of opening screening and help manage screening logistics
- Researching audiences
- Finding new partnerships, reaching out to people to engage with the film
- Supporting the social media strategy for audience development
- Supporting the producers to plan out events and screenings including sourcing locations.
- Able to work independently and to deadlines.
Required Experience and Skills
- Demonstrate an interest/basic understanding of documentary filmmaking
- Previous experience with producing and/or other transferable skills
- Experience in events management or project management.
Desirable experience
- A full clean driving license and own vehicle
- Experience of working with social media (asset creation and/or strategy)
Fee
£1,000 for 10 days (£100 per 8hr day)

w/c 9th June 2025 (possibility of w/c 2nd June if timing allows).
