Connector: Run your own activity for filmmakers

Under our BFI NETWORK WALES offer, we provide support for writers, directors and producers in their journey toward first feature.

Our Connector fund supports individuals and organisations to deliver targeted training, networking, research and resources that benefit under-represented filmmaking talent in Wales.

Who can apply?

You can apply for Connector funding if:

  • You are an individual or an organisation with a track record in the creative industries, ideally with a base in Wales or a partnership with an organisation in Wales;
  • You are over the age of 18 and not in full-time education;
  • You are, or will be, the lead on the project described.

How much can I apply for?

Up to £6,000.

How do I apply?

The first step is to get in touch with us to express your interest in applying at the contact details below. Please provide a brief outline of your project, including:

  • You/your organisation and any partners you plan to work with
  • Overall aims and target participants
  • Type(s) of activity and an overview of intended content
  • The amount of funding you are seeking from the Connector fund.

If you are invited to apply, we will send you an application form, which should be completed and submitted to network@ffilmcymruwales.com with the following supporting materials:

  • CVs for the applicant(s) and intended project staff
  • Company bios for the applicant organisation along with any partner organisations (if applicable)

Please note: For applicants with access requirements, for example individuals who are D/deaf, hearing-impaired, Disabled, neurodivergent or visually impaired, we will endeavour to provide alternative formats of our Guidelines, FAQs and application forms. 

Reasonable adjustments to the application process may include alternative ways of submitting information (e.g. via post. Zoom, short video or slide deck). We can also cover financial costs, such as a BSL interpreter for a meeting with us, or scribing support for dyslexic applicants. To discuss your requirements, please contact us.
