Different Voices animation mentoring project

Connector: Different Voices - Cardiff Animation Festival Mentoring Project

Cardiff Animation Festival teamed up with Biggerhouse Film to offer an online mentoring opportunity for six Wales-based new or aspiring neurodivergent animators.

The project will run over four weeks in March–April 2022, and is open to those who are:

  • new and aspiring animators
  • aged 18 and over
  • residing in Wales
  • who self-identify as neurodivergent.

The online mentoring sessions will be led by Biggerhouse Film using zoom.

Biggerhouse Film have been producing award-winning animations and films for 20 years, and are nominated for a British Animation Award this year. Working with them on this project is longtime collaborator Joff Winterhart, a graphic novelist and BAFTA Cymru-winning animator.

Over the course of the project, you'll have the chance to develop an idea and get it to animatic stage.

The mentoring sessions will culminate in:

  • a Different Voices Showcase at Chapter Cinema in Cardiff on Thursday 7 April as part of Cardiff Animation Festival 2022
  • a Different Voices Workshop led by Biggerhouse Film's Stephen Clarke and Hijinx's Dan McGowan, addressing the question: “how can the creative industries benefit from welcoming in neurodiverse talent?”
