Watch debut films from creative talent in Wales

The first short films produced through our Ffolio scheme with BBC Arts, BBC Cymru Wales and Arts Council of Wales are available to watch here.

Ffolio offers training, mentoring and BBC commissioning opportunities to creative people in Wales that don’t have professional experience in film, TV or radio. Whether they’re a dancer, blogger, musician, writer, photographer, graffiti artist, games designer, puppeteer, circus performer or animator, Ffolio is a new opportunity for people in Wales to celebrate their creativity.

After premiering on BBC Four, the first fantastic films made through Ffolio are now available to watch on iPlayer and you can see them collected here.

In a Room Full of Sisters

Photographer Ashrah Suudy explores the strength of sisterhood within Cardiff’s Somali community. The film focuses on the Dirac, a colourful, loose-fitting Somali dress, traditionally worn by women on special occasions such as Eid and weddings. Here we see young Somali women showcasing the Dirac against the backdrop of Butetown, Grangetown and Cathays, as they read poetry by Ashrah on the power and importance of celebrating your culture unapologetically.

Written and directed by Lloyd Glanville.
