Newport Film Trainee Vacancies
Ffilm Cymru Wales would like to invite applications for a number of short, entry-level trainee positions on a documentary short film in Newport.
As part of these roles we will also be providing a day of training for successful applicants, to get you ready for set and ensure you’re prepared to jump into your roles.
The Film
Rebels and renaissance is a cinematic exploration of Newport's artists and its working-class history of the chartists rebellion, capturing the essence of its eclectic and diverse community of talented individuals and projects in 2024. It sets out to ask 'What are the responsibilities of the artists and how valuable is art to the people of Newport, through the work of local creatives.
The film is produced by Rewired Life.
Vacancies
Trainee vacancies in each of the following departments:
- Camera
- Sound
- Grips
- Production Assistant / Runner
- Locations
The film will involve a small documentary crew, with multiple locations and on-screen contributors across Newport. The work will be fast-paced and hands on: a great chance to learn how documentary films are made, and how small crews work alongside each other to create what you see on screen.
Requirements
These roles are ENTRY LEVEL learning opportunities. You do not need any professional experience in the departments, but you should be/have:
- Ready and willing to learn new skills and filmmaking techniques.
- An interest in documentary filmmaking and the department you are applying to.
- A passion for the Newport arts scene and screen industry.
- Organised and punctual.
- Work well in a small team environment.
- Flexible and adaptable to change.
- Confident interreacting with members of the public and a wide range of contributors.
To be eligible for these roles you must live in Newport, with a Newport postcode, and be 18 or over.
Locations & Dates
Filming will take place over 4 days: Tuesday 16th, Sunday 21st, Wednesday 24th & Thursday 25th of July in central Newport
The ‘Training Day’ for successful applicants will take place on 10th of July 10am-3pm in central Newport
Rates
All positions will be paid National Living Wage.
