Gwledd / The Feast selected for SXSW premiere
The contemporary Welsh language horror will have its World Premiere at the innovative film and media festival this March.
Gwledd / The Feast is the debut feature of director Lee Haven-Jones, and was written and produced by Roger Williams of Joio.
The film unfolds over the course of one evening as a wealthy family gathers for a sumptuous dinner in their ostentatious house in the Welsh mountains. The guests are a local businessman and a neighbouring farmer, and the intent is to secure a business deal to mine in the surrounding countryside. When a mysterious young woman arrives to be their waitress for the evening, the family’s beliefs and values are challenged as her quiet yet disturbing presence begins to unravel their lives. Slowly, deliberately and with the most terrifying consequences.
The film stars Annes Elwy (Little Women), Nia Roberts (Under Milk Wood) and Julian Lewis Jones (Justice League) alongside Steffan Cennydd (Last Summer) and Sion Alun Davies (The Left Behind).
Gwledd / The Feast was produced through Ffilm Cymru’s Cinematic scheme and was funded by S4C, Ffilm Cymru Wales, BFI (using funds from the National Lottery) and Fields Park. The film was produced in association with Melville Media Limited and supported by Great Point Media.
This year’s SXSW film festival will take place online from 16-20th March. The digital experience includes 75 feature film screenings, as well as conference keynotes, music showcases, networking, exhibitions, and more from.
