Foot In The Door Creative Work Experience

As part of Skills For Swansea, in partnership with Gower College Swansea, Ffilm Cymru have partnered with local creative organisations to offer fantastic 5-day paid work experience placements. 

  • Do you live in Swansea?
  • Are you currently 18 plus and not in full-time employment, education or training?
  • Would you love to explore a career locally in the creative industries? 
  • Would you like to get your Foot in The Door with paid work experience in the local creative sector and receive wrap around support? 
  • Are you keen to learn new skills, build confidence and work on a live brief for a creative organisation?

We have opportunities available to develop your skills in:

Could this be for you?

  • You don’t need any specific experience for this role, but you need an interest and enthusiasm for learning on the job in a creative role.
  • You may have existing transferable skills in these areas already. Please do let us know what skills you have in the application

Why Apply?

  • Work experience placements are an opportunity to watch an industry professional do what they do best.
  • You will have the opportunity to complete a ‘live brief’, a task set by the company, that you can then use as an example in your portfolio or for future job applications. 
  • It’s also a great way to try out some work to see if the path is the one for you! 
  • It is a great way to connect with local organisations, expand your networks and skills.
  • You will receive 1-2-1 and follow up support after your placement.
  • The work experience will be paid at Real Living Wage rates.

Please don’t worry if you don’t know what you are most interested in, you can choose more than one if you aren't sure and you can contact us if you need help with your application. Please note we will be matching applicants to employers based on their interests and skills, we cannot guarantee everyone will get a place, or a place with their host organisations. 

The Schedule

Friday 9th Feb: Closing date for applications. 

w/c 12th Feb: Online 121 interviews for participants - you will be given a zoom link to attend a chat with Ffilm Cymru.

Monday 18th March: Meet and Greet day at The Grand Theatre, Swansea 

If we match you to a work experience placement, you will be invited to a welcome day. You will get the chance to meet the cohort of others on work experience, as well as the employers you will be working with, before your work experience placement starts. 

Tuesday 19th March - Friday 22nd March: Placements at host organisations to commence.

Friday 22nd March: Catch up and signposting with Industry Placements manager and host organisations.
