First film industry events and delegates announced for FOCUS Wales

The first wave of film industry events and delegates have been announced for the BAFTA Cymru-Qualifying 2025 FOCUS Wales Film Festival.

This year’s film festival will take place at Coleg Cambria’s city centre campus on Chester Road, across the 9th-10th May 2025, hosted by Robert Corcoran of 73 Degree Films.

The programme will feature an expanded series of film industry events, including networking parties, panels and Q&As with top talent, providing filmmakers and audiences with unparalleled access and opportunities to meet and learn with others.

Ffilm Cymru’s CEO Lee Walters is confirmed as a panellist for a discussion on ‘The State of Welsh Filmmaking,’ taking a look at upcoming projects, trends and the latest funding and commissioning opportunities for filmmakers and production companies. He’ll be joined by Dai Baker, Creative Wales’ Sector Development Manager for Film. Plus Guto Rhun, S4C’s Young Audiences Commissioner and others.

This will all take place alongside the festival’s BAFTA-Qualifying short film competition and feature film programme, which will be announced soon.

“I’m thrilled that once again we’re going to be able to bring some amazing filmmakers, film industry leaders and more to Wrexham. 2025 looks set to be our biggest and best edition yet!” - Robert Corcoran.

Additionally, Rachel Pedley of Avant Cymru and others will take part in a discussion on ‘The Future of Filmmaking,’ looking at new formats, technologies, opportunities and more across the world of filmmaking and content creation.

Filmmakers wishing to submit their work to the festival have just a few weeks left, with the final deadline of 14th February looming. More information, including how to submit a film for competition and to purchase public and delegate tickets is available here.

The 2025 edition of the FOCUS Wales Film Festival will take place on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th May at Coleg Cambria and is officially supported by Ffilm Cymru Wales.
