Censor selected for Sundance premiere
Prano Bailey-Bond’s love letter to 80s horror will have its World Premiere at Sundance Film Festival in January.
Niamh Algar (Calm with Horses, Raised by Wolves) stars as film censor Enid. After viewing a strangely familiar video nasty, she sets out to solve the past mystery of her sister’s disappearance, embarking on a quest that dissolves the line between fiction and reality.
Supported by Ffilm Cymru with National Lottery funding, Censor is Aberystwyth filmmaker Prano Bailey-Bond’s debut feature, following a host of critically acclaimed short films, including Nasty and Shortcut.
Censor was written by Prano Bailey-Bond and Anthony Fletcher, produced by Helen Jones of Silver Salt Films, and supported by Film4, the BFI and Ffilm Cymru. Protagonist Pictures are handling international sales.
This year’s Sundance Film Festival will take place from 28th January to 3rd February both online and in person on Satellite Screens across the US (public health permitting). Censor will premiere on 29th January, followed by a second screening on 30th January.
