“Before Foot in the Door I felt a lack of opportunities and contacts in the industry, as well as a lack of knowledge about where and when opportunities are available. Most of my jobs were in manual labour.”
Foot in the Door has:
- Given me a way into the industry and contacts who forward me opportunities.
- Taught me the etiquette of being on set and what I need to do to start building a portfolio for the industry.
- Boosted my confidence to go for opportunities
- Shown me that the industry is always looking for people who having interesting skills and experiences
“Since participating in Foot in the Door, I have attended a number of film festivals and workshops. I have also worked as an editing intern on a short film. My greatest achievement has been helping to start an amateur film group in Wrexham with the intention of making a number of short films about the local area.”
“I would definitely recommend Foot in the Door to anyone interested in trying to get into the film industry as it is a great way to learn about your chosen field and to gain contacts within the film industry.”
Philip is currently studying Computer Game Development at Wrexham Glyndwr University, and has received an Ymddiried / Welsh Broadcasting Trust bursary to loan a Mac Laptop with software to continue developing his editing skills and take on freelance editing projects.
