Well Being Facilitator Roundtable for Filmmakers
A discussion for filmmakers to find out how Well Being Facilitators can help promote and implement a positive working environment on set.
The BFI introduced funding for Well Being Facilitators across BFI production funded projects in 2022.
Made possible with National Lottery funding, and working with 6ft From The Spotlight, the role aims to champion and facilitate a positive working culture, as well as being an independent point of contact for any issues – including stress, bullying and harassment, discrimination, and adult safeguarding – throughout the lifecycle of the production.
In Wales, a pilot led by CULT Cymru in partnership with 6 Ft From The Spotlight has had the support of Welsh Government/Creative Wales and the Welsh Broadcasting Trust that includes training 10 Well Being Facilitators, short courses for industry and bursaries for production companies.
Ffilm Cymru invites writers, directors and producers for a round table discussion to hear more about this role and how it can help promote and implement a positive working environment on productions. We will be joined by Siân Gale from CULT Cymru and Michelle White from 6Ft From The Spotlight, with an opportunity for a Q&A.
This session is for writers, directors and producers working on feature length or short films at all levels of experience. The discussion will be through the medium of English and will include live captioning and BSL interpretation. If you would like to attend and have any additional access requirements please contact Tracy Spottiswoode on tracy@ffilmcymruwales.com or call 07902 492109 to discuss in confidence.
- The role of the Well Being Facilitator on productions is to support and advise the Heads of Department and Producers on how best to meet their legal duty of care to the crew and cast as a neutral third party.
- They can assist with de-escalating and investigating instances of bullying and harassment. They are also there to actively support the cast and crew with their own mental health, resilience and wellbeing as they work.
- The WBF can also provide coaching and support for HODs and producers where necessary, to reduce stress and prevent issues arising from difficult management situations.
