Trainee Impact Producer, Spring Films & Penbryn Film
Ffilm Cymru, Spring Films & Penbryn Film are inviting applications for a paid trainee placement working as a Trainee Impact Producer on the documentary film India’s 1st Best Trans Model Agency.
Candidates should be resident in Wales, with a base in South Wales.
The trainee impact producer will be based from home with travel occasionally expected around South Wales (expenses will be covered). The successful candidate will work with the Impact Producer and production team for a total of 13 days. The schedule of days per week/non-consecutive days is flexible and can be discussed at interview stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the Impact Producer in all aspects of their work (find out more about the Impact Producer role here)
- Supporting the social media strategy for audience development
- Supporting the impact producer to plan out events and screenings including sourcing locations.
- Able to work independently and to deadlines.
Required Experience and Skills
- Demonstrate an interest/basic understanding of documentary filmmaking
- Previous experience with impact producing and/or other transferable skills, such as experience working in community engagement, or for an NGO or charity.
Desirable Experience
- Experience in campaigning and activism
- A full clean driving license and own vehicle
Fee: £1620 (£120 a day, 13 days)
Number of working days: Flexible working days, around 1 or 2 days a week

India’s 1st Best Trans Model Agency
This emotionally charged journey, filmed over 7 years, follows the extraordinary journey of Rudrani Chettri as we discover the transgender community of Delhi as they set about creating India’s first trans model agency and a dazzling, paradigm- shifting, catwalk event.
Like many in the trans community, Rudrani and her friends are shunned by their families, forced to live and work on the streets, beaten and raped. Yet against all odds, Rudrani becomes Delhi’s highest profile trans activist, launching the agency under the intense glare of national and international media.
Traditional Hindu society recognizes the ancient Hijra identity as a third sex, a community of holy hermaphrodites. Their blessings and curses have power yet paradoxically, they are considered outcasts, segregated from mainstream society, forced into begging or sex work to survive.
Rudrani leads us into the hidden Hijra world of Delhi. Told with a mixture of humour, empathy and the director’s deeply personal connection with her characters, the film culminates in two grand events: a massive traditional Hindu festival attended by hundreds of thousands with Hijras at its heart and a spectacular catwalk show in ultra-modern Delhi.
