The Newport Cut
Join us for an evening of films celebrating the city’s creative community.
The event hosted by Ffilm Cymru Wales and Newport City Council at University of South Wales includes the premiere of Keefa Chan’s Rebels & Renaissance, a cinematic exploration of Newport's artists and the working-class history of the chartists’ rebellion.
Produced by Rewired Life, the short documentary captures the essence of Newport’s eclectic and diverse community of talented local creatives, and features interviews with Connor Allen, Juls Benson, Georgina Ella Harris, Mohamad Fez Miah and many more. A Q&A session with Keefa will follow the first screening of his film.
With more fantastic short films made by local people during our Foot In The Door Film Skills Fest, as well as the chance to network with Newport’s vibrant creative community, this promises to be a welcoming space to share your stories, make new connections, and discover training and career opportunities in the film industry.
This project is funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in partnership with Newport City Council, with additional funding made possible with the support of Ffilm Cymru Wales and BFI NETWORK with funding from the National Lottery.
