FOCUS Wales Film Festival Submissions Open for 2023
Film submissions for the 2023 edition of the FOCUS Wales Film Festival are now open! Categories include Narrative, Documentary, Animation and Music Video.
The film festival will take place on the 5th and 6th May 2023, with live screenings, panels, networking sessions and more in Wrexham City Centre. Awards include Best Welsh Film and Best International Film in each category + Best Original Score, and our special Celtic Film Award.
Now in its 4th year, The FOCUS Wales Film Festival is proudly supported by Ffilm Cymru and 73 Degree Films. Last year's winner of Best Welsh Film was Bald by Luke Bather. The film has since been selected by numerous film festivals around the world, including the Academy Award qualifying Encounters in Bristol.
As well as providing a platform to support and showcase the best new and emerging filmmakers in Wales, the festival also offers opportunities to hear from and meet some of those working at the very top of the industry. In 2019, Jan Harlan, executive producer of numerous Kubrick classics such as The Shining and Full Metal Jacket, was welcomed to Wrexham for a conversation about his career.
In 2023, filmmakers and film fans can expect a full and varied programme of film activity, alongside the usual music and conference at FOCUS Wales. Information, including tickets, judges and special events will be added to the film festival website soon.
