Gwledd / The Feast by Lee Haven Jones and Roger Williams to open Abertoir Horror Festival

The critically acclaimed film, which features a cast of Welsh stars, has been impressing audiences around the world in recent months. This will be the Welsh premiere of the film and its only UK screening outside of London Film Festival in 2021.

Gwledd / The Feast, a brand-new Welsh language film directed by Lee Haven Jones, written by Roger Williams and funded by Ffilm Cymru, will open this year's Abertoir Horror Festival in Aberystwyth.

A wealthy couple host a luxury dinner party in order to convince a neighbour to sell land to a local businessman. As a mysterious girl arrives at the house to be maid for the evening, things start to turn sour.

The film features a cast of familiar faces at their best, including Nia Roberts, Annes Elwy, Sion Alun Davies, Steffan Cennydd, Julian Lewis Jones and Rhodri Meilir.

Gwledd / The Feast has shown at film festivals around the world, including SXSW in the USA, Fantasia in Canada, BiFan in South Korea, and Motel X in Portugal, where it won the Méliès d´argent award for Best European Fantastic Feature Film.

The UK premiere takes place as part of the London Film Festival, and the Abertoir screening will be the only other British screening of the film this year.

Lee Haven Jones, Roger Williams, Annes Elwy and Steffan Cennydd will be present at the festival for a post-film discussion.

Abertoir returns to Aberystwyth Arts Centre after being presented virtually last year due to Covid-19. The festival will take place in the famous Theatr y Werin auditorium to allow for social distancing.

Abertoir Horror Festival takes place November 2-7 at Aberystwyth Arts Centre, and a virtual part of the festival will take place November 12-14. Gwledd / The Feast screens at 6pm, Tuesday, November 2; the full festival program will follow shortly.
