Beacons Webinar: Live Action Fiction & Animation

15th May 2023, 6:00

The Beacons Short Film Fund is run annually by Ffilm Cymru and BFI NETWORK Wales in partnership with BBC Cymru Wales. It supports the development and production of short films from directors in or from Wales.

Join this free webinar to find out more about Beacons, which reopens for applications in May 2023.

There will be tips on what we are looking for in a Beacons application and how to make yours stand out. We will also be joined by the creative teams behind Beacons live action fiction short Staying/Aros Mae - writer-director Zillah Bowes and producer Jack Thomas-O’Brien - and Beacons animated short Spectre Of The Bear - writer Ioan Morris and director Josh Hicks - who will share their own experiences of making short films with support from the fund.

Beacons provides funding as well as creative and practical support, training and mentoring opportunities to help filmmakers advance their careers. Short films produced through the scheme have achieved success at festivals, won numerous awards, been broadcast on BBC Wales and released on iPlayer. Find out more about Beacons here.

Please note that we are hosting a separate online event focussed specifically on Documentaries on Thursday 11th May at 2pm. We invite you to sign up for the event you feel is most relevant to you – you are of course welcome to sign up to several different sessions.

The session will run for 90 minutes with a short break in the middle and you will have a chance to ask questions. Live captioning and BSL interpretation is provided, however if you have any questions or access requirements, please contact Tracy Spottiswoode on tracy@ffilmcymruwales.com or call 07902 492109 to discuss in confidence.
