Chuck Chuck Baby filmmaker Janis Pugh on working class representation & inspiration and the BAFTA Cymru awards

Three films funded by Ffilm Cymru Wales share five nominations at this year’s BAFTA Cymru Awards, including Best Film and Best Short.

Chuck Chuck Baby has been nominated for three BAFTA Cymru awards, comprising Best Feature/Television Film, Best Production Design for Caroline Steiner, and the Breakthrough Cymru award for writer-director Janis Pugh, while Being Seen and Spectre of the Bear have been nominated for Best Short Film.

Starring Louise Brealey and Annabel Scholey, Chuck Chuck Baby is a film of love, loss and music set amongst the falling feathers of a chicken factory.

To celebrate the BAFTA Cymru award nominations, we sat down with Chuck Chuck Baby filmmaker Janis Pugh to discuss how working in a north Wales chicken factory inspired her film, the importance of sharing local stories, and how Ffilm Cymru Wales has supported her creative journey.
