Beacons shine light on Welsh film talent

Budding directors, writers and producers are being invited to enter a new short film scheme‎ run by Wales' national film body.

Beacons, the short film scheme from Ffilm Cymru Wales and the BFI NET.WORK, will shine a light on the new generation of filmmaking talent in Wales, while providing a crucial step in their creative and career development.

New BFI statistics show record year for UK film in 2014

Independent figures published today by the BFI show the UK’s screen industries are thriving and making an increasingly significant contribution to the UK economy and audiences are enjoying British film more than ever. 2014 saw a massive surge in film production in the UK, generating a total spend of £1.471 billion in 2014, a 35% increase on 2013 and the highest recorded figure ever.

Iris Prize is now worth £30K - Bigger and Better

Organisers of the Iris Prize have today (12 January 2015) confirmed that the Iris Prize, awarded to the best LGBT short film, has been increased from £25,000 to £30,000 thanks to the generous support of The Michael Bishop Foundation.
