Hat-trick as Australia takes the 2014 Iris Prize

All God’s Creatures about the relationship between two young brothers following the death of their father has been announced as winner of the 2014 Iris Prize – Cardiff’s International Gay and Lesbian Short Film Prize supported by The Michael Bishop Foundation. The £25,000 prize will allow the filmmaker to make a new short film in the UK.

58th BFI London Film Festival announces events programme for filmmakers, industry leaders and business executives

The 58th BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express announces today a refreshed industry events programme creating new opportunities for UK and international filmmakers and film professionals to share their knowledge and experiences, and push forward priorities for developing UK film creatively and commercially as set out in the BFI’s five-year plan Film Forever.

Abertoir horror festival plans Halloween invasion of Chapter Arts Centre

For the third year running, Abertoir, Wales' International Horror Festival, is uprooting from mid-Wales to take over Chapter Arts Centre's Halloween line-up. In keeping with Chapter's sci-fi theme this year, Abertoir has programmed a selection of scary treats for Halloween night. As part of the event Abertoir will present a selection of short films, a schlocky sci-fi classic, two Welsh premieres and host the ever-popular Bad Film Club.
