Sarah Brocklehurst to adapt novel with Welsh filmmaker Keri Collins

Following the success of the film adaptation of Emma Jane Unsworth’s novel Animals, Sarah has announced two books recently optioned by her company Sarah Brocklehurst Productions.

Super Gran by Forrest Wilson sold close to 750,000 copies on its original publication in 1978. The book was turned into a successful TV series in the 1980s, which won an International Emmy and sold all around the world.

A sharp, witty Scottish grandmother gains superpowers and proceeds to kick ass, in order to protect her grandson and elderly friends from a dangerous criminal.

The new feature film adaptation of this well-loved story is being scripted by BAFTA-winning writer/director Keri Collins, with development support from Ffilm Cymru Wales through their live-action family film development programme Hatch.

The Outrun is Amy Liptrot’s best-selling lyrical memoir about addiction and recovery, set in the Orkney islands. The novel was a Sunday Times bestseller, Radio 4 Book of the Week, it won the Wainwright Prize for nature and travel writing and the PEN Ackerley Prize for best memoir. The book has been translated into 14 languages and has sold more than 100,000 copies. The project is in development with Screen Scotland, and the script is being written by Amy Liptrot and Daisy Lewis, with Lewis attached to direct.
