American Interior nominated for BAFTA Cymru

Gruff Rhys’ latest musical movie adventure has picked up two BAFTA Cymru nominations.

As well as competing with Playing Burton and Y Syrcas for Best Feature/Television Film, American Interior has also been nominated for Ryan Owen Eddleston’s photography.

The film documents Welsh cult musician Gruff Rhys’ musical road trip retracing the fantastical American journey of his 18th century ancestor, the explorer Don Juan Evans. It premiered at SXSW and was released in cinemas earlier this year through Soda Pictures. American Interior will be available to own on DVD from the 15th September.

The film was co-produced with S4C, whose detective drama Y Gwyll / Hinterland leads the nominations with nine, including Best Director for Marc Evans (Patagonia, Hunky Dory). The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 26th October at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff, and will be hosted by Jason Mohammad.
